Iranian Widow Faces Terror Charges

“Taleb-Jedi has been linked to the People's Mujahedeen Organization of Iran, a group designated a terrorist organization by the State Department in 1997. Prosecutors say in 1999, she became an English teacher at the organization's Iraq headquarters, Camp Ashraf, and that two informants have since identified her as a member of a leadership council.”
“In a pending motion to dismiss the case, Harris claimed the government has never bothered to specify how her client purportedly supported terrorism, "other than teaching English _ itself an entirely innocuous act." Prosecutors countered that "teaching English to other terrorists is not protected First Amendment activity."
No matter how much we abhor MEK, and no matter how obvious the application of terrorist identity to the group, teaching English is no crime whether it is protected by First Amendment or not. The report indicates other charges against this unfortunate widow which may well justify prosecutor’s position. Nonethelss, this is a lucid case of which hunting. What would be the media’s reaction if the Islamic Republic argued a case against someone who thaught Persian to suspected American spies?
